Orange Cap is an award in Indian Premirer League for the player who scores most runs in a season.So far as,nine IPLs have been played.Let's have a look at each IPL season starting from recent.




IPL-2016 (Season 9)

A renowned international cricketer who is known for his incredible technique to play the shot in every format of the game,Virat Kohli,was the Orange Cap holder in IPL-9.He managed to score 973 runs in 16 matches with 4 centuries and 7 half centuries.He averaged 81.08 in IPL-9.Virat Kohli hit 38 xisex and 83 fours in that IPL Season.

IPL-2015 (Season 8)

The hero of Australian Cricket team,David Warner,managed to get Orange Cap  in Indian Premier League-8 with a healthy strike rate of 156.54.He made 562 runs with 7 half centuries in that season.He had an impressive average of 43.23 hitting 21 sixes and 65 fours.

IPL-2014 (Season 7)

A talented player,Robin Uthappa,has not done much for India Cricket Team but produced so many incredible innings in IPLs.He got Orange Cap in IPL-7.He made no century but acquired 5 important half centuries in 16 matches for his team KKR .Robin Uthappa  from Kolkata Knight Riders made total 660 runs.He played an extraordinary inning 83* in that season.He hit 74 fours in 16 innings he played.

IPL-2013 (Season 6)

A man who is known as Mr. Cricket in international , Michael Hussey played extraordinarily in IPL-6.He scored a total of 733 runs in an IPL season to claim the Orange Cap with an average of 52.35 in 17 matches.Six half centuries were made Mr. Cricket in that IPL Season.He also hit 81 fours and 17 sixes.

IPL-2012 (Season 5)

Chris Gayle,popularly understood as the Master Blaster of T20 Cricket  had a mountain of runs in IPL-2012.59 mighty sixes were the beauty of his innings in the IPL.He magnificently managed a total of 733 runs in 15 matches with 7 half centuries and 1 century.He is the only player to get two Orange Caps in consecutive years.He had a robust strike rate of 160.74 in that season ,a score 128* was an incredible inning from this man.

IPL-2011 (Season 4)

The King of Sixes in T20,Chris Gayle, scored 2 centuries  and 3 half centuries in that IPL season.He made 608 runs in 12 innings with an unbelievable strike rate of 183.13.He had an impressive average of 67.55.No one can forget his sixes showers in IPL-4 as he registered 44 sixes and 57 fours.

IPL-2010 (Season 3)

Master Blaster of all time in cricket, Sachin Tendulkar got the Orange Cap for scoring 618 runs in IPL edition 2010. He acquired an average of 47.53 in that season.In 15 matches he played,86 fours and 3 sixes were hit by him.He had an average strike rate of  132.61.

IPL-2009 (Season 2)

The former Australian opener,Mathew Hayden was the nominated player for Orange Cap in IPL-2.He made five brilliant half centuries in IPL-2009.He managed to score 572 runs in the league.He maintained a healthy average i.e., 52.00 in 12 matches he played.This player hit 22 beautiful sixes as well as 60 fours through out that league.

IPL-2008 (Season 1)

A very pleasant personality in Australian side,Shaun Marsh had an incredible year i.e., 2008.This was the year from where Indian Premier League (IPL) got started.A total of 616 runs were scored by Shaun Marsh in 11 innings he played for Kings XI Punjab.For most runs by any player,he achieved Orange Cap.Five half centuries and a century was made by him in his first season of IPL.He had an impressive average through out the league.Overall,he averaged 68.44 in 11 innings.This player also hit 26 sixes in first IPL-2008.
